Palacios Fishing Adventures with Capt. "Big John" Turner Fishing out of the Port of Palacios, Palacios Texas,
the City by the Sea
About Your Captain
Having
spent his entire life on the Texas coast, Captain "Big John"
developed a deep passion for and keen interest in Texas' unique
coastal habitat at a very young age. This passion fueled a need
for a better understanding of his natural surroundings, especially
its underwater inhabitants. To better understand the undersea world
and fish he loved to pursue, Captain "Big John" studied
fisheries and marine biology at Texas A&M University. After
graduating with his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in fisheries
biology, he practically lived with the fishes, on the water, learning
their behaviors, natural cues and responses to their environment.
Captain "Big John", referred to by
some of his closest friends as the "fish whisperer", uses
his refined knowledge of fish, fish behavior, habitat and marine
ecology combined with years of on the water experience to successfully
locate, pattern and stay on fish. Fishing locations, timing, lure
choices and bait presentation decisions are made with his scientific
approach in mind.
Captain "Big John's" greatest passion
is sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm for catching Matagorda Bay's
abundant sport fish. He has proudly shared his experiences with
his own two sons, teaching and watching as they became avid anglers
and outdoorsmen themselves. Captain "Big John" looks forward to
every opportunity to spend time on Matagorda Bay with his clients
regardless of their experience or fishing skill level, because he
knows he has something to share with them that will make them enjoy
their fishing adventure and appreciate their coastal environment,
eager to return to Palacios, Texas for another fishing adventure.
A Word from Captain "Big John"
I
look forward to taking you on an exciting fishing adventure on East
or West Matagorda Bay whether you are an avid angler looking for
that "monster" trout to put on the wall, a box full of
fish to take home, or ready go on your first fishing trip and reel
in that first Matagorda Bay fish of your own. I want your fishing
adventure with me to be the best that it can be no matter what your
fishing goals may be. I will make every effort to make your fishing
dreams a reality. I can accommodate corporate trips requiring multiple
boats and Captains, organize trophy wade fishing trips or put together
fishing outings that are memorable family fun.
Everyone knows "Fishing" is not necessarily
"catching", but with my knowledge and experience spent
on the water out of beautiful Palacios nearly every day as a full
time fishing guide, the odds are definitely in your favor of coming
up on top. I am very passionate about the sport of angling, especially
in and around the Matagorda Bay complex, we call home, and love
to share what I've learned over a lifetime studying and being part
of it. I do my best to teach not only fish catching know-how, but
also try to strengthen my client's knowledge and appreciation for
the marine ecosystem as a whole by pointing out details as opportunity
presents itself.
I will customize your fishing adventure, based
on our conversation when you book your trip to be certain that we
are fishing at the best time and in the best place given the conditions
to achieve your fishing goals. I will also do my best to make any
special accommodations you or members of your party may need.
The safety and comfort of my clients is a top
priority. My boat is fully equipped with USCG approved life saving
equipment, first aid kit, and I am CPR trained and certified. I
run a JH Performance B-235 with a Yamaha 150 HP-TRP Outboard engine,
maybe the smoothest, driest, shallow running boat on the bays. I
have rods and reels for every skill level fisherman and the finest
tackle. All of my equipment is meticulously maintained and serviced
and ready to catch fish.
I'm ready to go fishing! Give me a call today
and we'll have a great day on beautiful Matagorda Bay!
